Having discovered an apparent link between the meaning of the carvings on the Mithras roundel in the Museum of London and many objects on the Pictish Symbol Stones the author decided a suitable name was needed for that connection described here.
Taking the “belief” represented by the objects on the Mithras roundel to be a type of Mithraism and the Symbol Stones in, predominantly, North East Scotland already being called Pictish Symbol Stones the term “Pictish-Mithraism” was devised.
Pictish-Mithraism has been registered as a trade mark by the author, Norman J Penny.
